Underage Mystery Shoppers

Think 21 is the latest service from Answers Investigation. This website details everything you need to know about underage drink purchase, ID checking and the law. If you are in the licensed trade you are probably familiar with mystery shoppers or drinkers sent by the brewery in order to observe how you run things. Turning up unannounced and ordering their ware you will be unaware that you are being observed until you are sent their report a month or so after. This report will detail the level of service, how well the drink was poured etc, what they don’t assess is whether you are checking for identification form those who look underage or could possibly be underage. Think 21 is exactly that, checking for underage drinkers in your premises, underage drinkers who could land you a hefty fine or could cost you your license.

Think 21 means just that, if someone comes into your pub or off license and you feel they look a little young, Think 21. Does this person look 21 years old? Obviously the law requires a person to be eighteen to purchase alcohol but teenagers who are only 16 could pass for eighteen, but in most cases not twenty one. So, think 21 and ask for some ID, if they are old enough they won’t mind and show you some ID.

We supply underage mystery shoppers to help you get a better understanding of who is coming into your premises and whether your staff are adhering to the law. Working in teams under the supervision of an experienced Investigator, 1,2 or 3 underage mystery shoppers will visit an outlet. Our teams are dressed and act in a manner that suggests they are potentially below the legal age for purchasing the product concerned be it alcohol cigarettes video knives or adhesives.
